THE VENGEANCE TRILOGY (including OLDBOY), CHEF and BULLET IN THE HEAD
Wow, this was hard work this week. Have you ever tried to record a podcast when you can’t stop coughing, laughing and sweating? Just to add to the fun, Chris claims he didn’t get the message that this week was supposed to be a showcase for foreign films and decided to review the very American film, Chef. Never mind, we embrace independent spirit here at the Snakeskin Movie Lounge. VIVA LA REVOLUTION!
Our spoiler free review section of the show is headlined by Chan-wook Park’s Vengeance Trilogy. Best known for the middle film, Oldboy, Moid indulged in some South Korean cinema and watched all three, back to back for your review listening pleasure.
8:50 SYMPATHY FOR MR VENGEANCE
19:54 LADY VENGEANCE
Jon Favreau is not just a pretty face who helped establish the most profitable movie franchise in the history of the universe, he also makes ordinary movies about cooking food in a truck. Chris breaks foreign film week protocol and reviews this cinematic culinary contraption ( or something like that?)
41:30 BULLET IN THE HEAD
Unlike Chris, you can always count on Russ to take simple direction and do his duty to the podcast. He gets foreign week back on track with a John Woo movie thats bound to have karate chopping, slow motion gun fights. I’m guessing, I haven’t seen it.
This week we have an email from Campbell in Vancouver who asks what we think the state of cinema is now that we have reached a time when Netflix can buy A-list production “off the shelf”
The Snakeskin Movie Lounge is a fiercely independent podcast. We are commercial free, not part of a network and totally self funded. The only payment we accept is a 5 star rating and review on iTunes, it really helps like minded people find the show.
